Dr. Ian Weir grew up in the Port Credit area of Mississauga. Dr. Weir completed his Dentistry degree at the University of Toronto in 1983. He graduated with awards in Crown and Bridge, Restorative Dentistry, Orthodontics, Oral Radiology, Oral Pathology and he stood highest overall in his class. He went on to complete a surgically focused internship at Toronto Western Hospital and was trained by Drs. Paul Morgan, Claudio Tocchio and John McComb.
Dr. Weir was then accepted into the anaesthesia program at the University of Toronto. He did hospital residencies at the Wellesley and the Hospital for Sick Children. After completing his degree in anaesthesia, he began his practice on Dunwin Drive in Mississauga while continuing to teach anaesthesia to undergrad students at the U of T dental faculty.
He opened his new practice, Ford Village Dentistry and Anaesthesia, in east Oakville in January 2005. The facility was designed and constructed under the supervision of his wife, Sharon, who continues to be involved in management of the practice. Ford Village Dentistry and Anaesthesia is an RCDSO accredited anaesthesia and sedation facility. Dr. Weir has member authorization for Deep Sedation/General Anaesthesia.
Dr. Weir and Sharon spend their free time pursuing wildlife photography and managing a northern farm property growing vegetables and food plots for local wildlife. They run an organic maple syrup production each spring. Dr. Weir enjoys pursuing ongoing continuing education and is a member of the ITI. He is pleased to be working in a partnership with his son Dr. Gordon Weir.
Dr. Gordon Weir completed a B.Sc. at Trinity Western University studying biology, physics and chemistry. Gordon attended Columbia University College of Dental Medicine in New York City where he graduated with numerous awards in Restorative Dentistry, Endodontics, Prosthodontics and Leadership.
He then continued his training in a dental residency program at The Mount Sinai School of Medicine in Manhattan and the James J. Peters Veterans Affairs Hospital in the Bronx with a particular emphasis on surgical restoration and placement of implants. Gordon also completed sedation and anaesthesia training at St. Josephs Hospital in Paterson, NJ where he became certified in intravenous sedation. Gordon has achieved a Fellowship of the International Congress of Oral Implantology and is currently an active member of the International Team for Implantology.
Outside of the office, Gordon enjoys family time with his wife, Stephanie, and son, Holt. Biking, paddle boarding, and cross-country skiing are Gordon's favorite pastimes. He has also been on several dental missions to Kenya, Thailand and the Dominican Republic.
